Can fate get love back after a fatality?

Irene has everything to be happy with Alex, her husband. Life smiles at them in all respects: their jobs as university professors and the passion they feel for each other fills them completely.

But a disease deprives them of their only child and Irene rejects the attitude of conformism and resignation that her husband has adopted.

After this situation of disagreement in their marriage, she decides to put time and distance between them and leaves for Italy after accepting a new position at the University of Florence: she will be the substitute teacher of Art History.

In search of a bit of calm and order in her feelings, she will discover that life has not stopped surprising her. An enigmatic student and a seller of ancient books will capture Irene’s attention, but the past will return to her bringing again an unexpected turn in her life in Florence, when stability seemed to be returning to itself.

One rainy afternoon, while Irene is taking a coffee looking through the large windows, she finds that, in the middle of the street and under a large umbrella, there is a figure that is watching her. When she discovers who it is, Irene will have to decide how to continue her life, but this decision will also influence those of the other protagonists.
